Two phases, one long-term client relationship

My work with The Hunnypot Day Nursery has taken place across two distinct phases of the nursery’s growth.

The first phase focused on strengthening the practical side of the brand, creating consistent materials, signage and promotional assets that helped bring the nursery’s identity into everyday use.

Several years later, I returned to support a new stage of its development: translating the nursery’s updated visual identity into a clear, engaging website experience.

Together, these two phases show how creative support can evolve alongside a business, adapting to new challenges as the organisation grows.

Phase One: Earlier brand support

Bringing an existing identity to life

Before Hunnypot’s later brand evolution, the focus was on improving consistency and usability across the nursery’s everyday materials.

The aim was not to completely replace the existing identity, but to create a stronger, more practical system that worked across print, signage and promotional resources.

Logos & Icons

The original Hunnypot identity worked well as a foundation, but many of the existing assets were only available in low-resolution formats and lacked consistency across different applications.

A refreshed logo system and supporting design approach helped create a more reliable foundation for future materials.

Print & Promotional Materials

A large part of the early work involved translating the brand into practical resources used by the nursery every day.

This included stationery, promotional materials, certificates, badges and other printed items designed to create a more consistent experience for children, families and staff.

Capturing the Experience

Alongside the design work, I documented the open day relaunch, capturing staff, branded collateral, the mascot and The Mayor in action. These images became both a record of the event and an asset for marketing.

Brand Evolution

As the nursery continued to grow, the brand later evolved through a separate rebrand process, creating new opportunities to apply the updated identity across physical spaces.

I returned to the project to design new signage and promotional materials.

Phase Two: Website Design & Build

Translating an evolved identity into digital

I later returned to help translate this now established brand into a modern digital experience.

The website project focused on creating a digital experience that reflected Hunnypot’s current identity while making the nursery easier for families to understand, explore and connect with.

The challenge was to balance warmth and personality with clear structure, ensuring the website worked for both existing families and new enquiries.

Designed around the parent journey

The website was structured around the needs of modern nursery families, making key information easier to find while creating a stronger sense of trust and connection. Design decisions focused on:

01

Clearer content hierarchy

Helping parents quickly understand rooms, services, fees and the nursery experience.

02

Improved navigation

Creating clearer pathways so families can easily find the information they need.

03

Stronger visual storytelling

Using imagery and content to communicate the environment, personality and values behind the nursery.

04

Responsive layouts

Ensuring the website works seamlessly across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
